Special Exhibits
Two Special Exhibits— You Can Enter your Quilts
You also can enter quilts in two other special categories that will represent the work of our membership. These categories are two special exhibits: I Am a Quilter and Meet Me at the Fair. See the descriptions below.
Entries into the these exhibits are in addition to any nonjudged entries. Use the form for Nonjudged Quilts to enter your quilt(s).
Do not, however, send your quilts to Mellisa Nellis as the form indicates. Send quilts to Laura Nagel, 7885 Lower 139th Court W, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
Additional details for both exhibits can be found in the MQ newsletter.
I Am a Quilter
Following American Patchwork and Quilting’s lead in encouraging quilters to express themselves in fabric, we will be exhibiting original 9”x 12” creations that Minnesota's quilters have made depicting what quilting means to them.
Meet Me at the Fair
This exhibit will feature quilts that have won first-, second-, or third-place ribbons at the Minnesota State Fair. If you haven’t been to the Minnesota State Fair on a regular basis, you may have missed some of the most beautiful quilts made in this state. This exhibit provides a chance to see several of the award-winning quilts that thousands have admired in the Creative Arts building each year.
Small Endearments: Antique Quilts for Children and Their Dolls
This exhibit is a beautiful collection of vintage pieces from private collections that reflect the loving stitches in quilts for children and their dolls.
Minnesota Quilt Project (MQP)
The MQP will once again display some of Minnesota’s outstanding heirloom quilts. This year the exhibit will feature Star Quilts in all their delightful variations in pattern and color.
Minnesota Contemporary Quilters
Each year the contemporary quilters have expanded their visions of what quilters can accomplish with thread and fabric when put into the hands of talented people who quilt outside the traditional parameters of quilting. Be prepared to enjoy another inspiring collection of modern images.
Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA)
SAQA's members are excited to present a gallery of some of today’s finest works of fiber art. Among the collection will be award winners, published quilts, international favorites, and series work. This is SAQA’s first time exhibiting at the MQ Show. We look forward to viewing their visually stimulating creations at the show.
Fiber Artist Jill Robinson
This exhibit is about the hand-dyeing process and surface design. The exhibit will highlight three techniques: dyeing, using resists, and discharging. Several pieces will showcase her glorious results.
