Basic Class Supplies
In the Registration book, we use some abbreviations that instruct you on supplies that you need for a class. You may see a notation that says, “BSS.” This abbreviation means you will need a sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins, and seam ripper for the class. Some classes will have sewing machines provided. Please see the class supply lists for further information.
Basic Sewing Supplies (BSS)
- Sewing machine, in good working order, with cord, foot pedal, and needles
- Thread, requested colors or neutral such as gray
- Scissors (fabric and/or paper)
- Pins
- Seam ripper
- Extension cord
Basic Rotary Supplies (BRS)
- Rotary cutting board/mat (the teacher may indicate a specific size)
- Rotary cutter with new blade
- Ruler(s) (the teacher may indicate a specific size)
Basic Hand Quilting or Hand Sewing Supplies (BHS)
- Hand quilting needles and thread (specific size and color may be requested)
- Thimble
- Sandpaper board
- Applique scissors
- Beading needles and thread (if requested)v
- Applique needles and thread (if requested)
- Basic Miscellaneous Supplies (BMS)
Requested Items
- As requested but might include:
- Glue stick
- Template material and cutter (X-Acto knife)
- Pencils (sharp or mechanical) and/or pens
- Colored pencils
- Note/sketch paper
- Graph paper
- Tracing paper
- Scotch tape
- Compass
- Freezer paper
- Masking tape
- Teflon pressing sheet
- Ultra fine Sharpie pen - black
Special Notes
- Some classes ask for PFD fabric. This term refers to “prepared for dyeing” fabric.
- If your classes have fees indicated, pay them directly to the teacher during class.
- Please arrive at your classroom at least 15 minutes before class begins. This practice will give you time to set up your work space before class begins.
