Judged Quilt Competition Entry Information

- You must use the required entry form (judgedentryform.pdf), submit photographs and fees.
Entry Rules:

You may enter up to two (2) quilts by submitting the required entry form, photographs and fees. NOTE: you may only enter one quilt per category. The exception being the Masters Category. A "Master" must enter both quilts in that category. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Each quilt must have a 4" wide (finished) sleeve securely attached to the top back of the quilt and an identifying label on the lower left corner. Directions on how to create a hanging sleeve can be found in the registration booklet or see Hanging Sleeve Instructions.

Minnesota Quilters, Inc. 2006 Show Faculty and Sponsors are not eligible for this Judged Competition. In the case of a Two-Person quilt, a Faculty Member or Sponsor may not enter a quilt, but may be represented. If one of these quilts wins a cash award, the Faculty Member or Sponsor will receive their ribbon, and the prize money will be donated to a charity of their choice.

Minnesota Quilters, Inc. reserves the right to refuse to hang any quilt that exhibits poor quality construction, that has been misrepresented by the photograph, is soiled or stained, or does not adhere to the size restrictions, or has been entered in the Minnesota Quilters, Inc. judged show in the past.

The nonrefundable fee for each quilt entered is $10.00 (U.S. Funds) per entry form for Minnesota Quilters members. The entry fee is $25.00 (U.S. Funds) per entry form for non-members. Make check or money order payable to Minnesota Quilters, Inc. For entries from outside the United States, an international money order is required.

Awards: Best of Show Quilt ($1,500); Best of Show Wallhanging ($800); Best Hand Quilting, Best Machine Quilting, Best Longarm Quilting ($1,000 each); Judges Choice (3 awards at $250 each); Category Awards-Quilt ($600 - 1st place, $400 - 2nd place, $200 - 3rd place); Category Awards-Wall ($450 - 1st place, $250 - 2nd place, $150 - 3rd place); Master's Class ($1,000 - 1st place, $750 - 2nd place, $500 - 3rd place); Granite City Award ($525 - quilt and $350 - wall); Show Chairs Choice ($450 - 1st place, $250 - 2nd place, $150 - 3rd place) .

All quilts entered in the Judged competition must have been completed on or after January 1, 2004. All entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2006.

If your quilt is machine quilted, you must indicate if the quilting was done on a home sewing machine or a Longarm quilting machine and who actually executed the machine quilting. If your quilt is hand quilted by another person, you must indicate who actually executed the hand quilting.

Two (2) 4" by 6" color photographs are required for each entry. Unfinished quilts are not eligible. One photograph must be a full front view of the finished quilt, including binding. The second photograph must be a close-up of one area of the finished quilt. **High quality photography is essential for fair judging**. Label your photographs with the following information in permanent ink:
