Scholarship for Beginning Quilters in Honor of Doreen Speckmann

The applications for the Minnesota Quilters 2005 Quilt Show and Convention are now closed and the winner has been announced.

This year's receipient of the Scholarship is Rene Krueger. She began her quilting career very recently but is already, as a member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), providing assistance to other beginning quilts in home economic classes.

Are you a new or beginning quilter? Would you like a chance to attend the Minnesota Quilters 2006 Quilt Show and Conference? The Minnesota Quilters is offering the Minnesota Quilters Scholarship for Beginning Quilters in Honor of Doreen Speckmann. The late Doreen Speckmann loved to inspire new quilters. Her classes were always geared for the beginning or intermediate student. We offer this scholarship in Doreen's name to continue her primary focus: encouraging all quilters, but especially the newly interested.

We believe the best way to encourage and inspire new quilters is to give them a chance to participate in the annual Minnesota Quilters' Quilt Show and Convention. The person chosen to receive the scholarship will enjoy the following awards:
