moon October 2nd, 2014 Membership Meeting at 7 pm

Mike Ellingsen of Blue Earth MN will be our guest speaker. He'll have a trunk show! Mike Ellingsen, from Blue Earth, has been a quilter for the better part of thirty years. He was a founder of the Blue Earth Valley Quilters (now in their 12th year) and is a chair of the Upper Midwest Woodcarvers and Quilt EXPO (planning the 32nd annual show for next August). Having retired three years ago from teaching music for 36 years, Mike finds he has a little more time for church music, community theater and especially quilting - but regrets that that are still only 24 hours in a day. He is a teacher at the Calico Hutch Quilt Shop in Hayward MN, where he has also designed or done the technical writing for their BOM for the past five years. Mike does all his piecing and quilting on a classic Bernina 1090 - and that includes quilting queen sized quilts. Mike’s trunk show will feature challenge quilts, block exchange quilts and quilts that illustrate his love of color and willingness to embrace new techniques.
